Joseph Henry Alvord, born 1 Dec 1830 in Goshen, Connecticut, was the second child of Chauncey Hart Alvord and Harriet Elizabeth Lobdell.
Joseph Henry Alvord married 12 Mar 1857 @ Marlborough, Connecticut, Elizabeth (Warner) Beebe, widow of John Russell Beebe. They had 2 children, born at Glastonbury:
The 1880 U.S. census enumerated Joseph and Betsey Alvord in Bloomfield, Connecticut [1]. Two of Betsey's children via her first husband remained in household with them:
Per the Alvord genealogy, Joseph Henry Alvord learned the trade of wagon maker and blacksmith in Goshen, Conn. After working several years in East Hampton, Conn., he went to Glastonbury, Conn., and carried on business for about ten years. From there he removed to Bloomfield, Conn., where he continued his business until 1890, when he removed to West Hartford, Conn., and was employed in the shop of W. A. King.
Joseph Henry Alvord passed away 16 Jul 1907 @ West Hartford, Connecticut. His grave is in Morris Burying Ground, Morris, Litchfield County, Connecticut, USA, marked with inscription on a collective Alvord family memorial stone [2].
Apparently the Alvord genealogy incorrectly identified the wife of Joseph Henry Alvord as Betsey Matilda Latham, of Marlborough, Connecticut, daughter of Amos B. and Caroline (Loomis).
