Biography

Lydia Williams Alvord, born 11 Nov 1838 at Chester, Massachusetts, was the fifth child of Olive (Weeks) Alvord (1808-1851) and Isaac Dwight Alvord (1805-1883).

Lydia married 20 Jan 1858 at Bethel, Connecticut, William Hill Barnum. They had 3 children, born at Bethel:

1. William Alvord Barnum (1862-); married 3 Apr 1884 Henrietta Chambers
2. Orrin Samuel Barnum (1865-1928); married 16 Oct 1889 Josephine Patton
3. Dana Dwight Barnum (1872-1947); married 23 Oct 1900 Caroline Monroe

This family was recorded in the 1870 U.S. census of Bethel, Connecticut, where they remained until at least 1880 ^[1],^[2]. By the turn of the 20th century, they were in Danbury ^[3].
