Biography
John Demmen Alvord was born 16 Feb 1872 in Bedford Township, Taylor County, Iowa, the first child of Angeline (Woodard; 1850-1917) and Seth Sanford Alvord (1848-1915). He grew up in Taylor County [1].
He married 31 Dec 1894 at Albany, Missouri, Lillian Josephine Quinby [b. 4 Aug 1874 near Old Memory, Iowa; daughter of Belle (Barr) & Jesse Crawford Quinby]. Four children proceeded from this marriage:
- Seth Sanford Alvord, b. 27 Aug 1896; d. 1965
- Jesse Quinby Alvord, b. 30 Aug 1897; d. 1970
- Arthur Frank Alvord, b. 12 Dec 1898; d. 1965
- Ralph Leslie (or Frederick) Alvord, b. 14 oct 1904; d. 1955

John Demmen Alvord died 5 Mar 1908 at Lawrence, Kansas. His grave is in Oak Hill Cemetery, Lawrence, Douglas County, Kansas, USA [4].
