Biography

Zerah Alvord, was born 10 Nov 1765 in South Hadley, Massachusetts, the eighth child of Lydia (Smith) Alvord (1728-) and Gad Alvord (1726-1810) [1].

He married first, 11 Nov 1790 at Greenfield, Massachusetts, Hannah Nims [2] [b. 9 Dec 1769 @ Shelburne, MA, daughter of Daniel & Charity (Childs) Nims]; they had 6 children, all born at Shelburne:

  1. Adolphus Alvord (1791-1852); married Naomie Barnard
  2. Harriet Alvord, b. 18 Nov 1793; unmarried; died 9 Jul 1867
  3. Epephus Alvord (1796-1862), b. 10 Jun 1796; married Hannah Lufkin
  4. Abigail (Alvord) Dole (1799-1875); married Wilder Dole
  5. Laura Alvord, b. 28 Mar 1801; unmarried; d. 23 Jul 1875 @ Gill, Massachusetts
  6. Cephas Alvord (1803-1872), b. 30 Nov 1803; married Rachel Parsons Childs

After his first wife died, in 1806, Zerah Alvord married second, Sarah Foster (b. about 1766), their marriage date not evident.

Zerah Alvord passed away 17 Jun 1845 at Shelburne, Massachusetts [3]. His grave is in Shelburne Center Cemetery, Shelburne, Franklin, Massachusetts, United States [4].
