Biography

Joseph was a Friend (Quaker)

Joseph was born at the Ambler Homestead to Joseph Ambler and Ann (Williams) Ambler. Joseph married twice, first to Mary Naylor, then to Sarah (Jones) Meredith.

Joseph Ambler married Mary Naylor on "the seventeenth day of the Eighth month in the year of our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred & Forty Nine" or 17 October 1749 in at the Gwynedd Meeting house in Montgomery Township, Philadelphia, Province of Pennsylvania.[1] Joseph and Mary had no children. Mary died in 1776.

Joseph Ambler married Sarah (Jones) Meredith on "the eleventh day of the first month in the year of our Lord one thousand seven Hundred & Eighty" or 11 January 1780 at Gwynedd Meeting house in Montgomery Township, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania.[2] With Sarah, his children were:[3]

  1. Joseph Ambler (1780 - 1813)
  2. John Ambler (1783 - 1859)
  3. Mary (Ambler) Forman (1787 - 1878)
  4. David Ambler (1790 - 1871)
  5. Benjamin Ambler (1793 - 1794)

He died suddenly at the homestead on April 22, 1813. His son Joseph died about four months later.
