Biography
David was a Friend (Quaker)
David was born in 1790. He was the son of Joseph Ambler and Sarah Jones.[1]
David married Margaret Hallowel on 16 November 1815 at Plymouth Monthly Meeting, Plymouth, Montgomery, Pennsylvania.[2] They had the following known children:
- Sarah (Ambler) Conard (1816-1897) m. John Conard[3]
- Jonathan Ambler (1817-1899) m. Rachel W. Beans[3]
- Phebe (Ambler) Conard (1819-1871) m. Albert Conard[3]
- Susanna Ambler (1822-1910)[3][4]
- Josiah Ambler (1824-1893)[3][5]
- William Ambler (1826-1892)[3][5][6]
- Ellen (Ambler) Roberts (1829-1904) m. Septimus Roberts[3][4][5][6]
- Jesse Ambler (1831-1859)[4][5]
- Evan Ambler (1833-1907)[4][5][6][7]
- Robert Ambler (1836-1910)[4][5][6][7]
- Edward Ambler (1838-1840)
- David Aaron Ambler (1840-1927)[4][5][6][7]
In August of 1839, a certificate for his minor children was produced from Gwynedd Monthly Meeting in Montgomery, Pennsylvania to Frankford Monthly Meeting in Philadelphia.[8] In 1844, he began attending Abington Monthly Meeting with his family.[5]
In the 1850 census David (age 62), Farmer, was in Gwynedd, Montgomery, Pennsylvania, United States with his wife, Margaret, and children Susanna, Ellen, Jesse, Evan, Robert, and Aaron.[4] About 1853, the family moved to Harford, Maryland, United States in the vicinity of Little Falls Monthly Meeting.[7][6] In 1860, David, Farmer, was living in Harford, Maryland, United States with his wife Margaret, Daughter Susanna, and 19-year-old son, Aaron Ambler. David and Margaret returned to Gwynedd, Montgomery, Pennsylvania from Harford, Maryland in 1864.[6][9][10]
He passed away in 1871.
