Biography
Chalkley was born in 1812. He was the son of John Ambler and Ann Morgan. He first married Rebecca Derr about 1842 and they had five children. After Rebecca died in 1852, he married, on 4 June 1863, Catherine C Evans, daughter of Peter C. and Margaret Jenkins Evans. They had seven children together. Chalkley passed away in 1903. Both he and Catherine are buried at Gwynedd Meeting.

Professionally, he was a prominent trial attorney in the Philadelphia for fifty years after being admitted to the Pennsylvania Bar in 1914.
