Ann was born in 1849[1] She was the daughter of Richard Ambrose and Ann Jones. She was christened 16th September 1849 at St Mary, Birkenhead, Cheshire, England[2] She was living with her parents and siblings at Grange Street, Birkenhead, Cheshire, England in 1851[3] She was still living with her parents and siblings at Carpenters Row, Birkenhead, Cheshire, England and she was attending school in 1861[4] She was living with her father and siblings in Birkenhead, Cheshire, England and she was working as a Housekeeper in 1871[5]
