Biography

Johann Christof Amelung was born in August 1748 in Klein Rhüden, Landkreis Goslar, Lower Saxony (Niedersachsen), Germany to Andreas Amelulng and Ilsa Maria Schilling.^[1] He was baptized on 25 Aug 1748 in Königsdahlum, Neidersachsen, Germany.^[2]

Sometime before 1774, he married Ilse Cathrina Marie Hauenschild (but not in Klein Rhüden or Königsdahlum). They had five known children:^[2]

1. Johann Heinrich Amelunke, b. 31 Jan 1774.
2. Anton Daniel Amelunke, b. 12 Mar 1776.
3. Marie Elisabeth Amelunke, b. 10 Aug 1778.
4. Johanne Marie Amelunke, b. 18 Aug 1779.
5. Johann Andreas Amelunke, b. 16 Sep 1782.

Johann Christof Amelung died, most probably of Tuberculosis, on 10 Jan 1790, age 41 years, 4 months in Groß Rhüden, Neidersachsen, Germany. He was buried 17 Jan 1790 also in Groß Rhüden. His wife would follow him four years later.^[2]
