L. B. Amerman was a soldier of the Union in the Civil war. He was a member of the 12th and 87th New York volunteer infantry, being 1st Lieutenant in the latter regment. He took part in the battle of Bull Run, in the first battle his captian was killed and Levy was advanced to his station, during the remainder of the fight. In the second battle nearly his entire company was killd, after which he and his remaining comrades were mustered out of service. He was later assigned to a commissary department. After the close of the war he was selected on special duty by the goverment in Florida.
Afterward he engaged in the mercantile business in New York City, Atlanta, GA; Jacksonville, Fl and was for many years quite prominent in the financial world.
In the year 1879, he and his family came to Kansas and were engaged in merchandising and farming. Later he came to Kingman and resided there for over 20 years.
