Biography

Thelma Rose Amero was born at Codyville, Maine, 1 May 1917, the daughter of Bernard Amero and Eva Cochran; [1] d at Codyville, 3 Jun 2007, and buried with her husband in the Codyville Cemetery; [2] m 6 Mar 1937, Lloyd Willington Monk, [3] b at Codyville, 5 Apr 1915, the son of John Edward Monk and Myrtle Mae Cochran; d at Calais, 5 Nov 1998, and buried in the Codyville Cemetery.


THELMA R. MONK

CODYVILLE - Thelma R. Monk, 90, wife of the late Lloyd W. "Joe" Monk, went home to be with the Lord June 3, 2007, at her home. She was born, May 1, 1917, in Codyville, the daughter of Bernard and Eva (Cochran) Amero. Thelma served the town of Codyville as tax collector for several years. She was an active member of Bethel Chapel, Talmadge and was great friends with Pastor Tom and Mona Smith. She loved to knit, and enjoyed watching and feeding humming birds and wild birds. She talked on the phone every day with her best friend, Edwina Harriman. She is survived by four sons, Vaughn Monk and his wife, Marion, of Topsfield, Carlton Monk and his wife, Grace, Lloyd Monk and his wife, Joan, and Greg Monk, all of Codyville; six grandchildren, and several great-grand-children. She was predeceased by her husband; and a daughter, Yvonne Bean. Friends may call 6-9 p. m. Tuesday and 1-2 p.m. Wednesday at Bethel Chapel, Talmadge. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at Bethel Chapel with the Rev. Thomas Smith officiating. Interment will be at Codyville Cemetery.
