James Ames was born in Witham Friary, Somerset, England.

James was baptised at Witham Friary on 10 March 1799. He was the youngest of ten children of Thomas Ames and Elizabeth Croome. [1]

James is thought to have died on 25 Ocotber 1810 and was buried at Witham Friary on 29 October 1810. [2]
