Biography

No record has been found of the birth of Ralph Ames, and his ancestry is unknown. He may be the Ralph Ames who was living at Livermore, Maine, in 1860, with (presumably his wife) Elizabeth Ames, 68 and 69 years old, respectively, with Ralph's birthplace shown as New Hampshire and Elizabeth's as Maine.^[1] Given the date of his marriage, 1792 is a reasonable estimate for his birth.

On 20 Jul 1816, Ralph Ames and Judith Ally, both of Livermore, Maine (then in Massachusetts) published at Livermore their intention to marry.^[2] Their only known child was born on 16 Dec 1818.^[3]
