Silas was born in 1834. He was the son of Simon Ames and Betty Ames. He passed away in 1920.^[1]

Research Notes

Per the family history as it is handed down, Betsey Ames was eight months pregnant with Silas Ames when her husband Simon passed away, and Silas would be born 37 days after. Betsey Ames already had eight children to care for and now she had nine. Silas Ames would be adopted by Henry L and Sarah Remington of Sunapee, New Hampshire. This is the point where the Ames family splits and continues with the Remington family.
