Biography

Marguerite Amirault was born 9 December 1704 at Cap de Sable, Acadia. She was the daughter of François Amireau and Marie Pitre. She was baptized on 24 December 1704 by Jacques de Pobomkou and by Felix Pain on 22 May 1705 at St-Jean-Baptiste du Port-Royal, Acadia. Her godparents were Maurice Vigneau and Anne de Pobomkou.[1]

She married Jacques Mius de Pobomcoup, son of Jacques Mius de Pobomcoup and Anne de St. Etienne 30 September 1723 at Port Royal, Acadia. Signed by Jacques Mius and Charles Mius d' Entrement.[2][3]

Their known children were:

  1. Jacques Mius (about 1729 – about 1760) .
  2. Marie Mius (about 1730 – unknown) .
  3. Anne d'Entremont (Feb 28 1732 – before 1824) .
  4. Joseph Mius (about 1739 – May 20 1783) .
  5. Paul d'Entremont (about 1743 – Jul 19 1841) .
  6. Benoni D'Entremont (about 1745 – Feb 21 1841)
  7. Marguerite /Mius-d'Entremont b. 1737

She died on 18 October 1796 at West-Pubnico, Nova Scotia.[4]

In 1767, a small group of settlers arrived in Pubnico from Massachusetts. They were 24 in number and included the following families:

Charles Amirault, his wife Claire Dugas, and four of their children. One of the four, their daughter Marguerite, had married Pierre LeBlanc while in exile in Massachusetts.

Jacques Amirault (a brother of Charles), his wife Jeanne Laure, and several of their children, some of whom were married adults.

Charles Belliveau, his wife Agnes Gaudet, and seven of their children.

Charles Belliveau (son of the above Charles), his wife Marguerite Bastarache, and three of their children.

Marguerite (Amirault) d'Entremont, widow of Jacques d'Entremont (who had died in Massachusetts in 1759), with five of her children, three sons and two daughters. Some of those children had been married while in exile.
