Biography

Hubert was born in 1901 in Elham, Kent, England to Albert Verity Amm and Alice Mary Holden.^[1]

Hubert was, according to Margaret, of 1820 Settler Stock. While he was not a member of Sephton’s original party there certainly is mention of a Philip Amm living in Homestead no 10 in the town of Salem in 1856. There are apparently, many Amms buried in the ‘Bathurst area’, where they settled.^[2]

Hubert married Mary Margaret Kinna in Johannesburg in 1929; there were two children born of this marriage.

In 1984 he was living as a pensioner in Rondebosch, Cape Town.^[3]   

He passed away in 1986, most probably in Cape Town.
