Anna Ammann was born on 4 August 1875 at Meisenheim am Glan, now in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. She was the daughter of Peter Ammann and Karolina Becker.
Anna married Jacob Sottong on 15 March 1903 in Germany.
Anna died on 18 February 1954 in Manhattan, New York City, New York. She died of parkinson's disease.
Anna was physically petite and "a love, a sweetheart, a gentle, kind woman."
