Annie Amos born in June 1858 was described as the first white girl to be born at Ulmarra in New South Wales, Australia. Her parents William Amos and Elizabeth Branch were pioneers of the Clarence River region, Annie being their 7th daughter and 11th child over all.
Annie never married but had a long and industrious life and was loved and respected by all her knew her. She was tended in her later years lovingly by her niece Lily Stoy until she finally passed away in March 1943, at the age of 84 years. Only one sister Mrs. Ada Green survived her of the 13 Amos siblings.
Miss Annie Amos was buried at the Grafton Cemetery, Villiers Street, Grafton, NSW at this time.
She was honoured In March 1945, during the the reopening and dedication of the South Grafton Methodist Church. As part of the acceptance and dedication of church furniture presented by members of the congregation, a Communion Table was presented in memory of Annie Amos by her niece. Miss Lily Stoy.
