Biography

James was born in Catoosa, Oklahoma on Feb 18, 1893[1][2] to James R. Amos and Mary Francis Amos.

He registered for the WWI draft of 1817-1818 in Cartoosa, Rogers County, Oklahoma, United States. States he was tall with a medium build, blue eyes and light brown hair. He has had a small bone taken out of his arm.[3] In 1942 he registered for the WWII draft in San Bernardino County, California, United States.[4]

He died of a heart attack at 10 a.m. on July 9, 1966 in Lassen Memorial Hospital in Susanville, Lassen Co, California. He was 73 years of age. He had lived in California for 40 years, 15 of those years being in Lassen County. He was a laborer retired from the construction industry. He was twice a widower. He was buried on July 11, 1966 in Westwood Cemetery. His son Jerald Amos provided the information for the death certificate.[5]

Notes

In the 1920 census James is listed as Indian. This is not true. I have done DNA and do not have enough Indian to warrant him being listed as full-blood. Other family members who have done DNA do not have any Indian in their DNA profiles. Do not know why he should be listed as such in this census. Lynne Sims
