Rebecca (Amos) Stow (1809-1890) [1]
Rebecca's mother and stepfather Richard Bowles and all their children, immigrated to the Cape Colony as part of the 1820 settlers. They sailed on the Chapman as part of the Bailie party. They settled in Albany or Bathurst. At the age of 19 she married John Stow. Rebecca had a brother who opened a business and lived in Cape Town in a boarding house but never married. [1]
On some documents her surname has been recorded as Bowles. LDS record may be incorrect - does not match the age on her death notice, surname is transcribed as AMIS. [2]
