Russell Monroe Amoss was born in Maryland in 1947. His parents were Stanley Leroy Amoss and Clara India (Snowden) Amoss. (Mount Airy, Maryland, is listed as his "Home of Record" on Army records.) He was killed in action in Vietnam in January, 1968, at the beginning of the Tet Offensive.
Russell was a pitcher at Glenelg High School and graduated from there with the Class of 1965.
Specialist Four (SP/4) Russell M. Amoss is buried in Howard Chapel Cemetery, Howard County, Maryland.
