Biography

OBITUARY: Andres Anaya Jr., 82 passed away on August 21, 2019 in Tijeras, New Mexico. He was born on December 7, 1936 in Juan Tomas, NM to the late Andres and Mary (Brazier) Anaya. “Junior” to all who knew him was a lifetime resident of New Mexico. Junior was employed by Bernalillo County Public Works Road Department for 44 ½ years where he worked as a blade operator, Foremen and Public Works Coriander for all of Bernalillo County. Junior was a man who could “Bring people together with common sense and a handshake.” Because Junior’s wiliness to help his fellow man no matter the situation he was awarded by the Bernalillo County Board of Commissioners and Parks and Recreation the “Outstanding Citizen Award.” Junior was a member of the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Moriarty, NM. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. He is also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Angelina (Orona) Anaya: brothers, Leo Anaya, Frank Anaya, Dan Anaya, Rudy Anaya, Julian Anaya, Pete Anaya and sisters, Carlota Mora, Virginia Torrez, Marianna Torrez, Dorothy Orona, Lela Mora, Addie Byrne, Lavina Foster, Carolina Munz, Condida Romero, and Lucia Lovato. Junior is survived by his sons Andrea Anaya III and wife Misty of Moriarty, NM and Pete Anaya and wife Terri of Florida; daughters Frances Anaya of Tijeras, NM, Thelma Schlegel and husband Gary of Tijeras, NM, Brenda Kinsey and husband Robbie of Tijeras, NM, and Rita Wing of Los Lunas, NM; brother Ernest Anaya and sisters, Dora Barela and Helen Dow. Andres was blessed with 25 grandchildren 7 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grand child. A Memorial Service will be held Monday, September 16, 2019 at the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Moriarty, New Mexico. The Rosary will be held at 9:00 A.M. and the Celebration of Mass will follow at 10:00 A.M.
