Nils was born in Norway in 1790, the son of Anders Nilssen Nødsel (or Nøtsel) and Kari Olsdatter Retengen.[1][2] He married Ragnhild Jorgensdatter 28 Oct 1815 in Elverum, Hedmark, Norway.[3] He died in 1866.
Nils, his parents and his siblings appear in the Norway Census of 1801.[4]
