- He enlisted in the Civil War in 1861 and was discharged in 1864 and applied for a pension in 1877.
- David 1st married Mary L. Humphrey on April 24, 1878, in Nebraska. She died 4/1879. He then married 2nd to Minnie Bryan on September 10, 1882, in Saunders, Nebraska.
- David died on September 26, 1894, in Ashland, Nebraska, at the age of 52, and was buried there.
- His widow applied for a pension 10/02/1894 following his death.
