Biography

Thomas was born in 1762 and baptised at St Andrew, Weaverthorpe on 1st August. He was the son of Robert Anderson [1] and his wife, Elizabeth Robson. As a youth he went to Hull to join his ship-owning uncle, Edward Anderson and was for many years Captain of the "Britannia" in the Hambro' trade. Uncle Edward died in 1806 and less than a year later Thomas married Edward's widow, Sarah. [2]
