Books, Websites and Articles

Have finally found confirmation of the birth & death dates of Lavinia Anderson Kirby wife of William Kirby, daughter in-law of Jesse and Sophia Kirby of Warren Co. KY In a paper written in 1958 from first hand account by Mrs. J. H. (Allie) Jackson a noted genealogist in Simpson Co. She personally viewed her tombstone, it read: Lavinia "Consort of W. Kirby" b. Apr. 11, 1789 d. Dec 6, 1820 located in Kirby Family Plot in Plano KY same location where Jesse Sr.is buried.

Lavinia Anderson born 11 April 1789 Greenville, SC daughter of proven Revolutionary Solider Baily Anderson b. 11 Nov. 1754 Stafford Co. VA d. 1 Aug. 1840 Harrison Co. TX and his wife Mary Delilah (Maiden name unproven - possibly Wyatt).

William Kirby and Lavinia Anderson were married on 24 Feb. 1806 in Warren Co. KY. A copy of their marriage bond is found at the Western KY University Library in Bowling Green KY. Original copy of the permission was hand signed by her father Baily Anderson.

The birth and death dates of all these people come from their tombstones and or Bible records. Lavinia's stone is now destroyed however it was transcribed in 1958 by Mrs. Allie Reeder, avid genealogist of Warren and Simpson Counties KY.

The stone read: Lavinia, consort of W. Kirby born April 11, 1789 died Dec. 6, 1820. The Kirby family cemetery is on the old family farm in the Drakes Creek area of Warren Co. KY.

Lavinia was born in 1789. She passed away in 1820.

Anderson-37511 and Anderson-23608 appear to represent the same person because: same spouse, death; similar birth
posted by Cari (Ebert) Starosta
If you reject the match of Anderson-23608 and Anderson-37511, you are saying that William Kirby had 2 wives, one named Lavinia and the other named Levenia. Both wives were born in April 1789 and both died on exactly the same date, 6 Dec 1820. Furthermore, this proves that William Kirby was a bigamist. The alternative is that these 2 profiles represent the same person with a disagreement on the exact date of birth. These 2 profiles should obviously be merged and the disagreement about the date, 4 April vs. 11 April, can be discussed in the bio. Please merge them.
