Biography

Sgt. Charles Anderson served with North Carolina during the American Revolution.

Charles Anderson was born on the Goldmine Plantation, Hanover County, Virginia on May 10, 1762. He moved with his parents to North Carolina at a young age. He served in the Revolutinary War while attaining the military rank of Sergeant. Sergeant Anderson died February 20, 1832 and is buried in the Anderson Family Cemetery in eastern Iredell County near the community of Calahan.^[1]

Research Notes

The Find a Grave citation says he was a Captain but others say he was a Sergeant. I could not find him in J.D. Lewis's Rev War database in either NC or SC as a Sergeant or Captain.

He served in the Colonial Revolutionary Army. He married Elizabeth Betsy Snead He and Betsy had the following children Nelson , Elizabth , Charles Jr. Garland , Mary Polly , Richard , Frances "Fanny" Spotswood and Robert

Charles was born before 1791. He passed away after 1812.
