Biography

Sarah was born in 1845. She is the daughter of Abraham Anderson and Anna Brooke. She died in about 1860 - according to the entry in the Bible given to her youngest sister Anna Maria Anderson by their father Abraham Colles Anderson and also according to Lieut Col Arthur Louis Brunker Anderson in "The Andersons of Old Kilkenny" and according to Burkes "Andersons of Old Dunbell". However, no official death record for her can be found and this remains a sad mystery..

Her father refers to her in a letter written May 1860 to his brother John in Van Diemans Land, saying he is looking forward to having her home for the holidays.

All the children were sent from India to his brother Henry at Fort Amherst in Kent so presumably she, too, schooled there. But when she died, Henry had already retired and was living with his daughter in Norfolk,

The UK Home Office states none of the Sarah Andersons who died in that time period match her.

It now transpires she died and was buried in Jersey. See attached documents from Jersey Heritage. The question now arises as to why she was sent to school in Jersey, as was her brother, Arthur William Leslie and other siblings too, possibly.
