William Anderson, Burgess, called William Anderson "junior" in parish records, was born at Mordington, Berwickshire, Scotland, about 1630, son of Patrick and Effala (Smith) Anderson. He may have been the William "Andersoune," son of "Patrik Andersoune," who was baptized at Linlithgow, Linlithgowshire, Scotland,13 June 1630.[1] He was probably given the "Junior" appellation to distinguish himself from an older William Anderson.[2] William Anderson was buried at Berwick-upon-Tweed, 5 June 1670.[3]
He married at Berwick-upon-Tweed, 12 June 1656, Anna Boswell, born at Alnwick, Northumberland, about 1630, daughter of William and Mary (Raw) Boswell. The register reads, "Will., burgis, s. Patrick Anderson, late of Mordington, of the Shirridome of the Marse, Scotland, and Anna, d. Will. Boswell, of Alnewick, Co. Northumb., before Andrew Crispe, J.P. Wit. Will. Anderson, Gawan Bowton."[4] Anna (Boswell) Anderson was buried at Berwick-upon-Tweed, 7 December 1706.[5]
