Eric was born in Kallmora, Norberg parish, in 1617 to bergsman Anders Holstensson and his wife. Eric Andersson was the nephew of clergymen Eric Holstenius and Gabriel Holstenius (son of their brother).
Ericus Andreæ studied in Västerås, Åbo and Dorpat, where he also taught school. Ericus Andreæ Holstenius was ordained in 1655. While in Dorpat he had been married to Dorothea von Wickenden, who died without living issue. 4 May 1652 Ericus Andræ married Brita Columba, daughter of the vicar in Husby. In 1664 he succeeded his father-in-law as vicar. His wife died in childbed in 1668. Ericus Andreæ Holstenius died 1 June 1669.[1][2]
