Biography

Sweden
Johannes Andersson lived in Sweden.

Johannes Andersson was born and baptized on 21 Feb 1823 in Veddige, Halland, Sweden to parents Agneta Månsdotter (1793-abt.1832) and Anders (Jonsson) Jönsson (1794-1863).[1][2]

Johannes was born in Veddige parish on February 21, 1823 and was christened on the same day. Parents are listed as Anders Jönsson and Agneta Månsdotter in Prästegården. Male witnesses; Jöns Larsson and Jöns Andersson in Weddige Kyrkoby. Female witnesses; Christina Torsdotter and Gunnil Olsdotter in Weddige Kyrkoby.[3]

At the time of Johannes birth, the family seems to be living in a "backstuga" on the lands belonging to Prästegården/Prästgården (which can be translated as the residence/farm of the parish priest).[4]

For the next entry in the household book there is a note on the mother, "sängliggande" which probably should translate as bedridden, and the line drawn across her name usually means dead or moved away. [5]

The father of Johannes seems to remarry in September 1840 and his wife, Lovisa Wilhelmina (Zachariasdotter) Zachrisdotter (1809-1851), seems to already have a boy named Carl August Andreasson, born 1836. Two more children are born to the family, Anna Lena Andersdotter (1841-1887) in 1841 and Kristina (Andersdotter) Wedberg (1844-1909) (aka Christina Andersdotter) in 1844.

Johannes seems to be old enough to leave home in 1841 but he didn't move very far, he is listed as a dräng at Prästgården (he just moved to the opposite side in the household book).[6]

Johannes seems to work at Weddige Prästgård until 1845 when he moves to Wabränna. [Whice Wabränna ? There are several.][7]

We find him at Wabränna No 3 where he works until 1848 when he moves to Kongsbacka? (possibly old spelling of Kungsbacka).[8]

The household exam for 1861-1870 (AL:7) found in the Sweden, Church Records, 1451-1943 collection, shows a name of someone that can't be read on the top line of the household at Vabranna 4 in Veddige; however Johannes and his wife are listed next along with their children, Johannes' father - Anders (Jonsson) Jönsson (1794-1863) (aka Jonsson) born 1794, and Johannes' half-sister - [[Martha Lena (maiden name ?) (46). [9]

Johannes was the first born son of Agneta and Anders. Take special note that Vabranna 4 was the original home of Berndt Gunnessson (b24 Jan 1814 - d 23 Jan 1912) and Christina Larsdotter, whose 1st born son was Samuel Berntsson / Wedberg, who married Christina Andersdotter (b 09 Mar 1844 - d 27 Sep 1909) who was Anders and Wilhelmina's daughter and Martha Lena's sister. This record helps substantiate the home and or land ownership of the descendants of Berndt or Bernt Gunnesson / Wedberg to his son Samuel to his daughter Betty Cecilia Samuelsdotter/Wedberg, to her daughter Elin Vilhelmina Johansdotter, to her daughter Kerstin Erika Eriksdotter ...[10]

Research Notes

Sweden, Church Records, 1451-1943 for Veddige, Halland (1861-1870 (AL:7) still needs to be processed for additional information on this household. Someone that can read, translate, and add the additional information found on this record could help out here.

Swedish Translation Needed

This Parish Birth Record needs to be translated in full so that additional people besides Johannes and his parents are not forgotten: [1]

Was this translated into the bio already or does it still need to be done. I can't do this.
