Jane was born in 1854. She was the daughter of Scottish immigrants John Andrew and Mary Brown. [1][2]

She married John A Picken in 1880. [3]

They farmed in Caledonia and were part of the Scottish Settlement in Argyll. They retired from farming and moved to Rockford before 1910. [4]

Jane passed away in 1925. [5]

DEATH TAKES MRS. PICKEN ON THURSDAY

Mrs. Jane Andrew Picken, 981 N. Court st., widow of John A. Picken, died suddenly Thursday afternoon at 8 o'clock at the home from a heart attack. She had been able to be about her home at noon in her ordinary health.

Mrs. Picken was born in Argyle, Ill., and had lived in Rockford for the past 17 years. She was married in June 1880. Her husband died June 6, 1914. A son, George M. Picken, 983 N. Court st., a grandson, J. Louis Picken, and two sisters, Mrs. William Reid, Rockford, and Mrs. Charles Kelly, Caledonia, survive.

Mrs. Picken had been active in the affairs of the First Presbyterian church. The funeral will be held from the home Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock, the Rev. W. H. Fulton, her pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood cemetery. [6]

Jane and John were first cousins. Charles Brown was their grandfather.
