Biography

Elizabeth (Andrew) Chapman was an early resident of the Scottish Settlement at Argyle, Illinois.

Elizabeth was born in 1847. She was the youngest of thirteen children of Scottish immigrants David Andrew and Janet Howie. [1][2]

Her family were early residents of the Scottish Settlement in Argyle, Illinois.

She married William Chapman in 1877. [3]

They lived in Rockford. [4]

They had one son, Albert Henry Chapman (1879-1972)

Elizabeth died in 1880 of typhoid fever.

Obituary

This morning, about five o'clock, Mrs. Elizabeth Chapman, who resides at 402 Kishwaukee street, quietly breathed her last. Mrs. Chapman has always been in good health but took a hard cold this summer, since which time she has been in feeble health, and the disease finally resulted in typhoid fever, of which she died. Mrs. Chapman was born in Guilford, July 11th, 1847, and was the daughter of David Andrew, who died a few years ago.

Mrs. Chapman was married on the first of November, 1877, to William Chapman, a cabinet maker for J.B. Marsh & Co. who survives her. She leaves one child, a boy, about a year old.

The funeral takes place Wednesday, at two o'clock, from the house at 402 Kishwaukee street, Rev. Wilder-Smith officiating.[5]
