On 5 June 1880, Henry lived with his mother Eliza Andrew and siblings John F., Elizabeth L., and Edith at 110 Charles Street in Boston, Suffolk County, Massachusetts. He was a student.[4]
He attended Harvard from 1880-1881, then the University of Georgia, where he studied law in 1888. [5][6] He also went abroad to study in both Italy and Germany and was admitted to the bar in West Virginia. [7] In 1898 he was a Republican nominee for the West Virginia Senate and that same year founded The West Virginia News.[8]
On 28 April 1910, Henry and Mary and their children B., M., and John A., father-in-law N. M. Garrestson, and three female servants lived at 507 West End Avenue in Manhattan, New York. He had his own income.[9]
He served with the American Red Cross in France and England during the FIrst World War, between May and November 1918. [10] He was commander of the 2nd Regiment, Wst Virginia Militia. [11] He was a member of a number of clubs, organizations, and charitable causes, including: [12][13]
On 15 January 1920, Henry H. and Mary R. G. Andrew lived in Asbury Park, Monmouth County, New Jersey. Henry was retired.[14]
On 7 April 1930, Henry Hersey and Mary Taymond Andrew lived at 123 W. 78th Street in Manhattan. They owned their home, valued at $35,000, and had a radio. Living with them was cook Ellen Devers and maid Mrs. Catherine Brien.[15]
Marriage
Henry's first wife was Eunice Cross and they were married on 29 Oct 1892 in Washington, DC.[16] They were divorced before 1900 when she was living in Buffalo, New York with her sister and daughter, Margaret. [17]
He married his second wife, Mary Raymond Garrettson on 16 January 1901 in New York City. [18] According to the marriage record she was the daughter of Rutland M. Garrettson and Mary Raymond Brown. [19]
