Obituary

"Henry Andrew of Brownville had marched with Sherman. --- Came to Brownville in an early day and became one of its well known residents - leaves large family to share sympathy of friends. --- Henry Andrew, who died Wednesday morning (Feb. 29, 1912) at Brownville, was an old time resident of Brownville and a pioneer whose presence will be missed by those with whome he had been associated for so many years. The deceased was born in Ohio in 1830 and spent his boyhood near the scene of his nativity. But before the outbreak of the Civil War, he had gone to Wisconsin and at the beginning of the hostilities he enlisted in the Eighteenth Wisconsin Infantry and made a most enviable war record. He served eighteen months with General Sherman and participated in the famous march from Atlanta to the sea. He was a man possessed of a profound sense of patriotism and his loyalty to his native land was a beautiful attribute of his character. --- In Ohio in 1856 he had been married to Miss Harriett E Henry and in 1876 they came west and located at Brownville. The deceased had lived there since that time and had engaged in farming as well as in other lines of activity. He was known as a man of quiet disposition, a hard worker and a good citizen. His was the spirit of the true pioneer and it enabled him to play well a man's part in bearing the pioneer's hardship and aiding in the development of the resources of the country. --- He was the father of seven children, four boys and three girls, one daughter dying in infancy. Besides his wife, he is survived by the following children: George H., of Oklahoma; Charles H. of Brownville; Anson B. of Ulysses, Neb.; William G., of Lincoln; Mrs. Harriett Parker of Graf; and Mrs. W.T. Denton of Sterling, and all of these children were with him when the final summons came. --- The friends of the family throughout the county will be sorry to learn of the death of this pioneer and will extend sympathy to the bereaved ones who mourn his death."
