Biography

Martha Andrews was born April 21, 1771, in North Carolina. In 1786, Martha married Young Goodwin, born April 7, 1766, in Bertie county, North Carolina, a son of Theophilus Goodwyn, Sr and his second wife, Nancy Ann Wyche. Children of Martha and Young include:

• William Wyche Goodwin, born February 23, 1792, died October 24, 1874, married 1) Jane Sanders 2) Susan Swift and 3) Charity Ann Carter

• Mary "Polly" Goodwin, born February 6, 1798, died Jun 27, 1853, married Richard Bird, in 1814

• Emily M. Goodwin, born April 27, 1804, died October 17, 1843, married Rev. Daniel H. Norwood

• Young Goodwin, born August 5, 1805, died September 5, 1852, married Lucy H. Grubbs

Martha (Andrews) Goodwin died August 13, 1852 in Chilton county, Alabama, and is buried in the Goodwin Family Cemetery, in Maplesville. ^[1]

Martha's father, Gray Andrews, is a veteran of the American Revolutionary War, and DAR Ancestor #A002622. Application for membership in the Society of the DAR have been made by the descendants Martha "Patty" Andrews, who married Young Goodwin.
