  2. Abigail Stanley
  3. Rebecca Stanley
  4. Lucy Stanley
  5. Joseph Stanley
  6. Benjamin Stanley

Research Notes

Uncertain Identification

The Essex Antiquarian is the only source that so far suggests that Ruth Andrews may have married Matthew Stanley. In the text Matthew is first fined for stealing the affections of Rebekah Tarbox, and then fined along with Ruth Andrews for fornication. The fornication fine may have been remitted if Ruth and Matthew married and this is what leads us to name Matthew Stanley's wife Ruth Andrews. Unfortunately there is no record of the marriage in Topsfield or Salem and the Topsfield birth records only list the father's name.

Misplaced Sentence?

This sentence, found in this profile, must refer to some other woman named Ruth:

Ruth passed away before 1664 when her sister, also named Ruth, was born.

Andrews-1710 and Andrews-5392 appear to represent the same person because: Andrews-1710 is unsupported profile with no life data except death field. Andrews-5392 has support but is the larger number which needs to merge into 1710. Unless the PM for 1710 is convinced they have a separate individual please approve and merge, otherwise reject. Thanks for your help assessing and eliminating duplicate profiles. :-)
