Biography

Fanny was born in Seaford, Sussex in 1836 and Christened on the 3rd of July 1836. She came to Australia with her parents and her sister Harriet on board the "Stratfieldsaye". They landed in Sydney, NSW, Australia in 1839.

Fanny's first husband was William THOMPSON they married 17 Sept 1857 at St Mary Magdalene C of E, St Mary's. He died at St Mary's on the 16th Nov 1863 & is buried with their daughter Mary Ann at St Mary Magdalene Churchyard, St Mary's.

Fanny then married widower WILLIAM MASTERS 17 months later on the 24th Apr 1865 at Castlereagh, NSW. He had just lost his wife to Typhoid & he also had four young children when his wife died. However that wasn't the end of the misery, two months later the youngest child Sarah Maria died. Whether William & Fanny's marriage was just a convenient option for both I don't know, but what I do know is that their marriage lasted the both of them all their lives. Will & Fanny had a further 7 children, 5 sons & 2 daughters. Fanny died at St Mary's on the 13th July 1919, 10yrs after her 2nd husband William MASTERS had passed away.

According to her Death Certificate she died of Asthemia & a malignant growth in her abdomen. Fanny is buried with her first husband William Thomson & their daughter at St Mary Magdalene Churchyard, St Mary's. William MASTERS is also buried with his first wife and his daughter Sarah Maria at St Mary Magdalene Church Graveyard at St Mary's.
