Biography

SAMUEL ANDREW (or Andrews) was born September 1688 ^[1] and baptized 14 October 1688^[2] in Milford, Connecticut, the son of Reverend Samuel Andrew and Abigail Treat. He died 26 April 1728 in Milford of a fever.^[3][4]

On 9 December 1719 in Milford he married EUNICE HALL.^[1][4] EUNICE HALL was born 7 March 1700 in Wallingford, Connecticut the daughter of John and Mary (Lyman) Hall.^[5][6] After his death she remarried to second to Governor Jonathan Law and third to Col. Joseph Pitkin of New Haven.^[4] She died 2 June 1774 in New Haven.^[7]

He was a graduate of Yale, Class of 1710, but took his AM in 1714 at Harvard, an interesting commentary on his father's views about Yale's prospects.^[4] After graduating he was a successful merchant in Milford. Samuel left no will. Administration of his estate was given to Eunice Andrew with John Hall paying bond on 10 June 1728.^[4][8]

Inscription: Here lyes buried the body of Mr. Samuel Andrew Jun'r who dec'd Apr. 26th Anno Dom 1728 in ye 40th year of his age.
