Biography

Sophie was born in 1891, the daughter of John Andrichen/Andriken and an unknown mother. She had two sisters, Mrs. Catherine Felegi, and Mrs. John Burychka.

She married Martin Revotskie and they had six children together.

  1. Nicholas, married Gretchen S. Fertig
  2. Peter, lost at sea during World War II
  3. George, died suddenly at the age of 22
  4. Charles
  5. Mary, married Dr. Allyn B. Giffin
  6. Harry

In the United States Federal Census for 1940[1], Sophie and her family are found living in Ashland, Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania, which, at the time, had a population of about seven thousand people. They were renting a house at 1338 Centre Street for $20 a month. The circled x beside her name indicates that Sophie answered all the enumerators questions. Martin had a Grade 4 education, and worked as a miner in the coal mine. Sophie was recorded as having no formal education. The household consisted of:

Revotskie, Martin, age 50, born in Austria
Revotskie, Sofie, age 50, born in Austria
Revotskie, Nicholas, age 20, born in Pennsylvania
Revotskie, Peter, 19
Revotskie, George, 17
Revotskie, Charles, 13
Revotskie, Mary Revotskie, 11
Revotskie, Harry Revotskie, 6

She was the daughter of Nicolaus Andrichyn and Pauline Olenyn. She passed away in 1943.

Research Notes

Death Certificate says father was "John Andricken". Her probable half-brother Charles Andrichyn's social security application says his parents were Nick Andrichyn and Pauline Olenyn. Another document says mother was Pauline Kasyn.

Andrichyn-8 and Andrichyn-6 appear to represent the same person because: Same birth and death details. Looking at the information on both profiles, it seems they do represent the same person. There is a discrepancy with the father, but from the information on Andrichyn-8, Nicolaus seems to be the more likely name of the father. Thanks for reviewing.

Andrichyn-8 and Andrichyn-6 are not ready to be merged because: Family stories always said that Charles, Kalena, Sophie, and Catherine Andrichyn were siblings. Recent DNA analysis shows that Kalena and Charles were half-siblings. Not sure yet who are the parents of each of them now.
