Biography

Joseph Elah Andrus was born in 1804. He was the son of Joseph Andrus and Catherine Harmon. He passed away in 1875.

Bruleé, one of the oldest citizens of this
parish, died last week. He was a man
of strong honest instincts that always
kept him in the straight-forward course
that he believed to be right ; and one of
the few, who sometimes live and die, it
is said, without ever having a single enemy. [2]

Whereas Clarence L. Hayes of the parish of
of St. Landry, has applied by his petition to be
appointed administrator of the estate of Joseph
E. Andrus, deceased, late of the parish of St.Landry.
Therefore, any person in rending to make op
position to said appointment, will file the same
in writing in my office, in the town of Opelousas
within ten days from the present notice.

It seems that Joseph Andrus married his step-mother's sister. Does that make his father, his brother in law? Is his wife, his aunt? Sounds like I'm my own grampaw.
