George was born October 20, 1904 in Rochester, New York to Cathrine (Katie) and Louis Angaro. Louis was born in Italy and immigrated to the US.

George signed up for the New York National Guard on March 30, 1922, when he was 18 years of age and served in Co H 108th Infantry.

US Census 1930 finds George listed as married but living with his parents and 2 brothers in Rochester, New York.

US Census 1940 finds George listed as divorced and living with his parents in Rochester, New York.
