Civil War Veteran
"Hiram Angel served as a Union officer during the Civil War. He was a Captain in the 87th Regiment, Company E of the Illinois Infantry Volunteers. He enlisted on 11 April 1862 and fought in several battles including the Battle of Vicksburg. He continued to serve until he was honorably discharged on 16 June 1865. After the war he married Mary Malinda Adcock, they were the parents of eight children."
