Although we have a number of profiles from this family group that use Taillefer as the LNAB, I've always thought it was a nickname applied to some members of the family and not a dynastic name. Even though Wikipedia does call them the House of Taillefer https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Counts_and_Dukes_of_Angoul%C3%AAme I still think that Angoulême is the more appropriate LNAB?

I'm not necessarily suggesting a mass LNAB change, but in this situation where there is a merge proposed, I think the merge should go into Angoulême-44 rather than into Taillefer-19. That would entail removing the PPP momentarily.

Taillefer-19 and Angoulême-44 appear to represent the same person because: They appear to be intended to be the same person, but I recognise that, before a merge is completed, it may be necessary to sort out and verify some of the family relationships currently shown. I am re-proposing the merge as it has just been suggested again in a profile comment.

This man, Taillefer-19, appears to be the same person as Angoulême-44 who married Marguerite (Turenne) Angoulême, Turenne-1. The profiles show them both married to her, with the same dates and places of death. Should they be merged?

Emma, Limoges-7, shows some of the children to be hers both in her biography and attached as children, when they are also claimed by Marguerite, Turenne-1, in the biography, but not linked to her. I suspect the birth dates for both women to be incorrect, as the earliest dates for the birth of any of the children is given as "after 1151" which would make the mother over 40 years old, since estimated dates are 1115 and 1117.

Neither of them is attached to Vulgram III (or Wolgram III). Wikipedia says he is a son of Guillaume IV, and successor to "the title of Count of Angoulême and its territories from his father, William VI of Angoulême, in 1179." He only ruled for two years and was succeeded by his brother Guillaume (William).

The biographies for both Guillaume and Marguerite show the first heir to the title of Count, Vulgram, to be their son. However neither profile assigns Vulgram to them. It is reasonable to assume Vulgram to be the oldest child, named for Guillaume's father. It is also reasonable to assume, that provided his first wife did have children, the oldest child would belong to her. She (Limoges-7) does have the next two heirs to the title attached to her as her sons, and they are so described in her biography. However, the biography section for both Guillaume and Marguerite claim Guilliame VII and Aymer for their sons, in spite of them being joined to Emma and described as her children in her biography. The estimated ages of the children would indicate either that they are off by more than 10 years, as Emma died in 1162, or Marguerite was actually the first wife. However, Marguerite did not die until 1201.

I am interested in clearing this up, as I apparently descend from Aymer, and want to have his mother's true name as near as possible.

Emma and Marguerite were different people. Please see Medieval Lands (cited in the bio), https://fmg.ac/Projects/MedLands/ANGOULEME.htm#GuillaumeVIdied1179B as well as (not available on the web) Douglas Richardson, Royal Ancestry, 2013, Vol. I, pp. 128-9.

Emma appears to have died by 1150/1, the approximate date of Guillaume Taillefer's second marriage, to Marguerite. I have amended the death date on her profile, which needs a lot of work when someone has time. Children appear to have been wrongly attached to Emma: Medieval Lands gives Marguerite as mother of Guillaume and Aymer, and I am not sure of the source for daughter Hélie. I am afraid I would not want to attempt to sort out children without doing more research because of the risk of replacing one muddle with another, and I do not have time myself for this at the moment. All the profiles I have looked at for this family nexus need substantial attention.

Sorry, I misread what you were suggesting - I read it too quickly. A merge of this profile with Angoulême-44 was set as an unmerged match in 2019, meaning that further research is needed. I will re-propose it, but it may well be that there is a problem about completing the merge until some of the family relationships are sorted. For instance, besides the probable attachment of wrong children to Emma, the Isabelle, https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Angoulême-46, shown as daughter of Angoulême-44, may well, if Medieval Lands is right, not be a daughter. It can take some time and research to sort out the best way of handling these sorts of tangle, and it is a question of when someone with pre-1500 certification is able and willing to turn to this.

As I said, it is important to try to avoid replacing one muddle with another.

The DOBs (Limoges-7 at ~1115 & Turenne-1 at ~1117) of both attached wives, do not line up with the DOB of Taillefer-19 being about 1134. How could Limoges-7 not only be about 20 years older than her husband, if correct, she bore him at least two children at age 45+ and before that have a child when she was an infant? The dates and marriages need to be reviewed, corrected or removed.
