Biography

Henry Angwin died young.

Henry Angwin was born 1861, St Just, Cornwall, England. Parents being Henry Angwin and Nanny / Ann Grenfell.

1861 April, Residence Kenidjack, Henry Angwin, is just 1 month old, his mother Nannie aka Ann age 19 and his father Henry Angwin, age 22, occupation Tin Miner.

1864 Month of December, a sister is born named Mary.

1865 Immigration The family Henry aged 26, occupation Miner, residence recorded as St Just, Cornwall, wife Ann (Grenfell) Age 23, are traveling with two children, Henry 3 years old and Mary, an infant. The Ship Named Peeress, Captained by John Stephens, left from London 23rd March, then departed Plymouth 8th April 1865 arrived at Port Adelaide, South Australia on the 9th July 1865, the family were listed under the (GE) General Passengers List.

Ann and Henry and their 2 young children, make a new life in South Australia, In the Region of Daly, living in the Mining towns of Wallaroo and Kadina.

1875 Henry and his father have been badly hurt in a Mine accident in the Hughes Shaft, at the Wallaroo Mine. Henry jnr, would have been about 14/15 years old, he suffered with terrible burns to his body, back, face, and arms. Henry snr. was also burnt around the arms and his face to the extent of him being disfigured. It was recorded that the burns were Severe. Sadly young Henry did not survive he died shorty after the incident.
