Biography

Jane was born about 1819, the daughter of Lieut. Roger Cornwallis Anketell, J.P. and Monica Hare.^[1] Miss Jane S. Anketell died on the 6th December 1899 in Kingstown, county Dublin, aged eighty years.^[2] The Irish News and Belfast Morning News published the following death notice [which was partially illegible]:

Anketell—December 6, at 3 Mulgrave [Terrace], Kingstown, Miss Jane Anketell, [only sur]viving daughter of the late Captain [R.C.] Anketell, of Russell Street, Dublin.^[3]

The Irish probate calendar (1900) contains an index entry for the administration of Miss Anketell's estate:

Anketell Jane [22] 15 January Probate of the Will of Jane Anketell late of 3 Mulgrave-terrace Kingstown County Dublin Spinster who died 6 December 1899 granted at Dublin to Stanhope C. J. Hemphill B.L. and Arthur E. Vincent Solicitor. Effects £4,050 17s. 3d.^[4]
