Frederick was born in 1896. He was the son of Richard Annan and Mary Yates.
Frederick's service number was 4357. He was in the Australian Imperial Force in the 20th Australian Infantry Battalion and embarked on 9th April 1916 from Sydney on the HMAT Nestor A71.

He was killed in action in Belgium on 20th September 1917, with no known grave he is commemorated at the Menin Gate Memorial.
