Biography

William Annand was born in Scotland.

'Life Summary:

Born 1774
Married 1797
Children 9
Died (not found)

William Annand was likely born on the 1st June 1774 in the village of Kinlock[1] in the parish of St Fergus.

He was the son of parents John Annand and Marjory Jaffrey. He was baptised the next day in the Parish church of St Fergus located just a few miles north of Kinlock. Witnesses to the baptism were Andrew Boyce in Kinlock and Alexander Mill in Southessie? [2] (See Research Note B).

William Annand of Kinlock married Isabella[3] Murray of Bruxiehill (See Research Note C) Witnesses to the marriage were Robert Murray and John Annand. (Possibly they were the fathers of the Bride and groom) [4]

William and Isabella (Murray) Annand likely had at least 5 (9?) known children:[5]

It is possible that William died in Peterhead in about 1830. [5]

Research Notes

A. William's Birth:

The Baptism Register for the Parish of Peterhead in Aberdeenshire only records the father's name, not the mothers. So there is no way of knowing (without finding the children's death registration entries - only if they died after 1854) if Isabella Murray is the mother of all 9 children fathered by William Annand, Manufacturer of Peterhead. Note: Another view is that William was born about 1750.[5]

B. Southessie

- difficult to read, will try and find a comtemporary map [1] of the area to check likely possibilities. Kinlock is situated just a few miles south of the village of St Fergus. (Smith-127977 13:16, 8 February 2020 (UTC))

C. B????hill

- difficult to read. Most likely place name is Bruxiehill located just a few miles to the NW of Kinlock. I will try and find a comtemporary map [1] of the area to check likely possibilities. . (Smith-127977 13:16, 8 February 2020 (UTC))

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with William by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with William:
