Biography

Matilda was born about 1882. Matilda is the child of John Annear and Hannah Poole. [1] Tilly attended the Conservatory of Music at Mount Allison University, Sackville, New Brunswick .After graduation she became the organist at Montegue Methodist Church and a music teacher in the town. It was in her capacity as organist that she met her future husband John O'Brien who was a supply minister at the church. As a minister's wife she was very active in church affairs such as hostessing tea parties {she loved to pour} and organizing children's concerts and plays. Despite suffering from severe osteoporosis she remained very active, especially in the kitchen,until the end of her life.
