Ross was born at Lithgow, New South Wales in 1928. His parents were Ross Joseph Annesley (1896-1970) and Ethel Muriel (Rudland) Annesley (1898-1984).
As a 13-year-old, Ross made the news when he performed in a band contest, won a trophy and was then rushed to hospital to get his appendix out!

Ross married Vivian Beryl (Ellem) Annesley (1927-2018) at Redfern, New South Wales, Australia in 1948. [1]
Ross died at Fairfield, New South Wales in 2001.
